The Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC) is a State Corporation mandated to provide direction, harmony, and coordination to the leather sub-sector in Kenya. It serves as the national focal point on all matters related to leather and leather-based industries, engaging key players such as:

- Hides and Skins Traders
- Tanners
- Footwear and Informal Leather Manufacturers

📜 Background & Legal Framework
KLDC was established under Legal Notice No. 114, Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 113 of 9th September 2011, in line with the State Corporations Act (Cap 446). Initially housed under the Ministry of Livestock Development, KLDC now operates under the Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprises Development, where leather is classified as a priority sector.
KLDC operates through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and collaborates with various ministries such as:

- Ministry of East Africa Commerce & Tourism
